On “Feel and Look Fabulous” Holistic Health Talk for Women Radio Show: Suzzann Cummings, a 5 yr breast cancer survivor joined women’s radio host Irina Wardas
Suzzann Cummings is a 5 yr breast cancer survivor.
She was the 5th. woman in her family to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and also the youngest at 42yrs. old.
The live, Internet holistic talk-radio show streamed from the women’s radio host page
Suzzann’s mother was diagnosed after symptoms of breast cancer in 1966 (45 yrs old) at a time when saying those words were “taboo” and she survived! Suzzann opted for a bi-lateral mastectomy with total lymph node removal from her left side, which was the side the cancer was on. The tumor was 9cm (picture a golf ball!) Her cancer was coined the phrase “triple negative” which means I was estrogen, progesterone and HER2 receptor negative. The cancer was stage 2A with the tumor being a Grade 3-Highly agressive -poorly differentiated. -5 yrs ago that wasn’t great news! 6 rounds of chemo followed by reconstructive surgery approx 3 months post chem.
Suzzann is looking to spread the word to other cancer survivors (and patients undergoing breast cancer treatment) on the importance of nutrition, exercise and knowing that there’s still support out there while your healing and learning how to move on after a cancer dx. Too many survivors are left feeling somewhat “abandoned” after tx “now what, where do I go and who do I turn to” & “my life will never be the same, I want to move on but don’t know how to”.
Coming to terms and the decision for the bi-lateral mastectomy
The healing process and becoming a breast cancer survivor, not a victim
Why it’s so important to have programs in place for breast cancer survivors and utilizing them to their fullest extent
The relationship of exercise and nutrition during chemo/radiation and how new studies have confirmed that this is important for healing and thriving!
Lymphedema and the benefit of exercise. How to manage and take care of the condition with a physical/lymphedema therapist.
Mind over matter and how important it is to stay positive. Our mind is so much stronger powerful than we give it credit for.
Breathe, smile and be happy.
